About Darah Foundation

Who We Are

The Darah Foundation is a youth-driven, community-powered non-profit that’s rewriting the story for children, pregnant women, and young families in underserved communities of Lagos Mainland, Nigeria.

We believe in creating a world where no child goes to school hungry, no mother faces childbirth alone, and no infant is left without basic healthcare in their most vulnerable years.

This isn’t charity.
It’s community. Equity. Action.

Our Mission

To empower children and mothers through education, nutrition, and healthcare, with a laser-focus on those often left behind — school-aged kids, pregnant women, and babies under two years old. Why It Matters

Every day in Lagos Mainland:

We’re here to change that - with smart programs, bold ideas, and radical empathy

What the Kids Are Saying

Mariam Age 8

“I used to be shy to come to school because of my feet. Now, I love my new shoes!”

Chuka Age 10

“I can listen better after I eat. My stomach doesn’t hurt anymore in class.”

Real Projects. Real People. Real Impact.

Our Programs

At The Darah Foundation, we don’t just talk about change – we deliver it, one child, one meal, and one step at a time. Below are two of our flagship community-powered projects transforming lives on the ground:

The School Shoes Project

“Every Child Deserves to Walk with Dignity.”

One Meal Per Day” Special Project

“Because learning on an empty stomach is almost impossible”

What’s the problem? For many children in our target communities, the only guaranteed meal they receive is not at home - it's from school, or the community if at all. Hunger affects their focus, attendance, and even their mental and physical development.

Maternal Health & Wellness Program: - "Empowering Mothers, Nurturing Futures”

What’s the problem? Despite advancements in healthcare, many women, particularly in underserved communities continue to face significant challenges during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. These challenges include limited access to quality maternal healthcare services, lack of education on prenatal and postnatal wellness, inadequate emotional and mental health support, and disparities in health outcomes. These issues contribute to higher rates of maternal morbidity and mortality, negatively impacting both mothers and their children.
